Ship your own domain service on  Polygon in a weekend.

All the cool kids on Twitter have .eth/.sol domains. Here's how you can become cooler than them: by making your own domains! We'll be going over things like writing a smart contract in Solidity, deploying to Polygon, and building a React app to let your friends connect their wallets and create their domains.

Learn how Polygon works by building a faster and better* ENS.

*Yeah so it'll only be as good as you make it. ENS uses pretty cool technology but it's kinda mysterious and you can't really learn about it by just reading random blog posts or vague tweet threads. Instead, we'll hack around with the tech ourselves.

🧠📝

Pick up Polygon: a secure, low-cost, eco-friendly chain.

We'll be building on a "Layer 2" PoS chain built on top of Ethereum on the Polygon protocol. It's as secure as Ethereum, but with a way better UX!

✍️🏗

Build a dApp with React, Replit and Metamask.

We'll do something magical: make a React application that interacts with your smart contracts on the blockchain. We'll cover storing and fetching data, tracking transactions, and working with Metamask to change networks.

💻🪢

Let your friends come in and mint a domain to their wallets.

We're going to write some client-side code to connect to our Ethereum wallet and call functions on our smart contract.

Who is this for?

If you're a dev curious about layer 2s or web3 -- this will be perfect. It helps if you have basic web dev experience!

💻 Curious hackers who want to tinker w/ Polygon & Solidity

This is probably our biggest audience. You're just a cool dev. You're hearing all the buzz about web3 and want to learn more about it at a technical level!

🛠 Engineers that want to build cool crypto stuff

Tech moves fast already. And, crypto moves even faster lol. This is good for engineers in industry that want to build on the side and level-up their skillset.

🎓 Students that want to build their portfolio

If you're in college, chances are your normal classes aren't focusing on this. Web3 can help your portfolio stand out. Plus, you'll build a cool Polygon project in the process!

Build alongside other devs and get shit done.

Building stuff alone is lameee. Once you enroll we'll get you in a channel where you'll get to share progress with a cohort of awesome devs.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does this cost?

All of our projects are free and open-source! You'll never need to pay for our guides, and we'll deploy on a testnet so your total cost for this whole thing will be $0.

What's the time commitment?

The whole project will probably take you like 5-10 hours. Depends on your skill level. Most people finish it the same weekend it kicks off.

Is this live or async?

It's all async! You can work on your project on your own time. All of the content will be available to you when you enrol and you'll have access to it forever :)

Are there guides I follow to build the project?

If you're a dev curious about web3 -- this will be perfect. It helps if you have basic web dev experience!

What languages do I need to know for this?

You just need to know some Javascript and the basics of React. Also, you should know the basics of running stuff inside a terminal.  Basically, if you're familiar with the basics of web dev, you can do this for sure. If you don't, you'll struggle but you'll figure it out if you put in the work. We'll support you :).

Will I get an NFT for completing the project?

Yes ser. Every successful completion of a buildspace project is rewarded with a unique NFT! Good luck.
