Polygon ENS

Ship your own domain service on Polygon in a weekend

You've seen those .eth and .sol domains? Learn to make your own domain service by writing a smart contract in Solidity, deploying it to Polygon, and building a React app to let anyone connect their wallet and create their domain.

ENS uses pretty cool technology but it's kinda mysterious and you can't really learn about it by just reading random blog posts or vague tweet threads. Instead, we'll hack around with the tech ourselves.

Pick up Polygon: a secure, low-cost, eco-friendly chain.

We'll be building on a "Layer 2" PoS chain built on top of Ethereum on the Polygon protocol. It's as secure as Ethereum, but with a way better UX!

Build a dApp with React, Replit and Metamask.

We'll do something magical: make a React application that interacts with your smart contracts on the blockchain.

Let your friends come in and mint a domain to their wallets.

We're going to write some client-side code to connect to our Ethereum wallet and call functions on our smart contract.

Engineers that want to build cool crypto stuff

Tech moves fast already. And, crypto moves even faster lol. This is good for engineers in industry that want to build on the side and level-up their skillset.

Students that want to build their portfolio

If you're in college, chances are your normal classes aren't focusing on this. Web3 can help your portfolio stand out. Plus, you'll build a cool Polygon project in the process!

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does this cost?

All of our projects are free and open-source! You'll never need to pay for our guides, and we'll deploy on a testnet so your total cost for this whole thing will be $0.

What's the time commitment?

The whole project will probably take you like 5-10 hours. Depends on your skill level. Most people finish it the same weekend it kicks off.

Is this live or async?

It's all async! You can work on your project on your own time. All of the content will be available to you when you enrol and you'll have access to it forever :).

Are there guides I follow to build the project?

If you're a dev curious about web3 -- this will be perfect. It helps if you have basic web dev experience!

What languages do I need to know for this?

You just need to know some Javascript and the basics of React. Also, you should know the basics of running stuff inside a terminal. Basically, if you're familiar with the basics of web dev, you can do this for sure. If you don't, you'll struggle but you'll figure it out if you put in the work. We'll support you :).

Will I get an NFT for completing the project?

Yes ser. Every successful completion of a buildspace project is rewarded with a unique NFT! Good luck.
